North Platte Woman Sentenced for Distribution of Methamphetamine

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that on February 10, 2012, Melissa Nicole Hammond, 27, of North Platte, was sentenced to 70 months in prison for distribution of five grams or more of methamphetamine on April 11, 2011. Following the prison term, Hammond will serve four years on supervised release.
On April 11, 2011, a confidential informant working with the CODE Task Force in North Platte purchased 20.48 grams of methamphetamine which was found by the Nebraska State Patrol Criminalistics Laboratory to be approximately 65 percent pure from Hammond and another person in Kearney, Nebraska.
The CODE Task Force is made up of law enforcement agencies in a 22-county area in west-central and southwestern Nebraska and also resulted in the arrests of a number of persons on state drug-related charges. The CODE Task Force includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA); Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); North Platte Police Department; Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office; Nebraska State Patrol; Dawson County Sheriff’s Office; Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office; and the Frontier County Sheriff’s Office.
