Garceño, Texas ─ More than $1.4 million worth of marijuana was seized by U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station Wednesday.

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station Wednesday found 1,700 pounds of marijuana at a ranch.

Inside the building the agents found more than 220 packages of marijuana, with a weight of more than 1,700 pounds.
The Drug Enforcement Administration assumed custody of the marijuana.
“Thanks to an alert citizen speaking up and reporting suspicious activity, these drugs won’t make it into our communities,” Chief Patrol Agent Rosendo Hinojosa said. “When people speak up and take a stand against crime, our communities and, ultimately, the nation as a whole are safer.”
To report suspicious activity, call the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector’s toll-free telephone number at 1-800-863-9382.
